History · Rockcliffe Park area
Was Rockcliffe Park its own village?
Short answer
Yes. Rockcliffe Park was organized as a police village in 1908 and was an independent village from 1926 until it amalgamated with the rest of Ottawa on January 1, 2001. Its leader was called the Reeve until the 1980s, then the Mayor.
As of · Updated
Wikipedia lists David L. McKeand as the first Reeve (1926 to 1928) and Patrick Murray as the last Mayor (1985 to 2000). The role of Mayor of Rockcliffe Park was eliminated after amalgamation.
